Dinosaur Dreaming Flat Rocks Dig Slides 01. The Flat Rocks site is located near The Caves, Inverloch and is situated in the inter-tidal zone. 02. It was discovered in 1991 and annual excavations commenced in 1994. 03. Each year the hole got deeper. 04. By 1998 we had to install a System to try to keep the sand out. 05. One of the many modifications to the System. 06. Another modification. 07. Each day the system had to be emptied of water from the previous high tide. 08. The excavation had to be clean before more rock could be removed. 09. Spotting the bone can be difficult when the rock is still wet . 10. The System was abandoned in 2004 and the sand was removed manually. 11. The water was removed with petrol driven pumps. 12. The excavations were laborious and required a large crew. 13. The crew not involved in the extraction of the fossil layer broke up the rock as it came out the hole. 14. At high tide the crew broke rock in the back garden of the rented dig house. 15. A dinosaur footprint was found close to the dig site in 2007. 16. It was moulded by Museums Victoria in 2008 and was later damaged by persons unknown.
