On Tuesday 3rd May 2011, the ladies held their annual Wine and Dine luncheon. Eighty-three guests including ladies from Fish Creek, Korumburra, Meeniyan, Wonthaggi and Tarwin Lower enjoyed a fun-filled day, starting with sherries served by Rhonda and Jill, followed by a delicious lunch prepared by Bev and her team of helpers, and served by some gorgeous men who look quite different all dressed up in their white shirts, dark trousers and bow ties, they do scrub up well, but our lady president made the disappointing statement that they were all unavailable and that their wives were present.
The upstairs section of the club was beautifully decorated by Margaret and Rhonda.
Margaret just gets better and better at producing artistic place mats etc. The theme for the day was the letter P, so there was a lot of pink and purple, lots of pearls, a pussy cat, pink pompoms and even a Pie on Ear. The lovely ladies from Wonthaggi nearly stole the show with their pink fascinators (clever Ira) and pearls, but they were upstaged by Robyn organising a very funny race which had everyone in tears of laughter (the details are not quite fit for print, but I am sure that Frank, Brian, John and Ray can give adequate descriptions to the curious).
Musical entertainment was provided by Andy Dennis, who is always popular, and had everyone kicking up their heels on the dance floor. A number of these same ladies fronted up for bowls the next day.
Raffle winners were drawn throughout the day, with all the prizes being donated by our ever generous members.
Lucky spots were decided by something different on selected place mats, another of Margaret's bright ideas.
Ann Hardy won the prize for the best outfit (the pussy cat complete with ears and tail), the girls from Wonthaggi were the best dressed group, and the most original idea was won by Robyn Dennis with her pi-on-ear play on English.
President Joyce extends a big thank-you to all our members who contributed to making the day such a success, and to all those who attended and joined in the fun of the day.
